I'm John Rostron, a Cardiff ne'er do well. I book or promote live music shows for venues in Cardiff and also promote some special gigs around Cardiff, Wales and beyond under the banner of SWN (it's pronounced 'soon' and is Welsh for 'noise'). I also co-curate and promote the annual SWN Festival in Cardiff with Huw Stephens. Occasionally I put out records on my little label My Kung Fu too. I also run Sleeveface with my friend Carl Morris. You can message me on john(at)plugtwo(dot)com.
On Monday 12th Novmeber the ex-Sterolab's LAETITIA SADIER enters the Globe, Cardiff for a very very special must see performance. Following her latest release SILENCIO in July the French born LAETITIA is looking to repeat the success of the previously named Stereolab and look to lanuch on from where her debut THE TRIP left off.
LAETITIA SADIER will forever be linked with Stereolab, the band she has fronted with ex-partner Tim Gane through- out the heady pre-and-post-millennial years of the past two decades. But 2009 signaled changes. Stereolab announced an indefinite hiatus and Laetitia disbanded her original solo project/band, Monade. Fittingly, Laetitia released her first ‘official’ solo record, The Trip, which won over many old and new fans. Her second album SILENCIO has been 2 years in the making and explores the individual connection of a deeper self placed environment, in a fresh kind of way. That noise preventing your connectivity comes from society — the noise of commercialism and the marketplace overwhelming your ability to cut deeply inward, prohibiting your inner-connections. SILENCIO may help you understand how to resist the rules of these systems, but only if you listen!
