MUSIC INDUSTRY EXPERTS ANNOUNCED AS WELSH MUSIC PRIZE JUDGES
We're pleased to announce the judges for this year's inaugural Welsh Music Prize - the award which celebrates Welsh music across a wide variety of genres.
Huw Stephens, Radio 1 DJ and co-founder of the Welsh Music Prize, said: "The judges for the Welsh Music Prize this year have been approached because of their active and important roles in the world of music promotion, management, nurturing and supporting. Each judge brings an expertise and a credibility to the Prize, and each judge will be asked to pick their favourite album from the shortlist. The judges are as varied as the albums nominated, and we look forward to the outcome on October 21st."
Without further ado, we can excitedly reveal the following judges who form this year's panel:
Ashli Todd - Co-owner of Spillers Records.
Bethan Elfyn - Presenter and DJ for BBC Radio Wales.
Dai Davies - Music Industry Developer, member of the Arts Council of Wales and a Governor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
David Exley - Booking agent at Coda Music Agency, whose roster includes WILD BEASTS, CHAPEL CLUB and THE XX.
Jude Rogers - A journalist for a number of publications including The Guardian, The Word, New Statesman and the BBC, Jude has also been a judge on the Mercury Music Prize panel since 2007.
Mike Williams - Deputy Editor of NME.
Neil Pengelly - Head Booker for Reading and Leeds festivals.
Stephen Bass - Co-founder of Moshi Moshi Records, whose roster includes THE RAKES, BLOC PARTY and HOT CHIP.
Tom Baker - Founder of music promotions company Eat Your Own Ears
Yvonne Matsell - Co-founder of NXNE Music Festival in Canada.

The winner of the first ever Welsh Music Prize will be announced at an exclusive ceremony during this year's Swn Festival on Friday 21 October 2011 at the Kuku Club, Cardiff.
